GOVERNMENT

I believe that our government is too large as it stands. We have councils for councils, leading to long drawn out processes making paperwork long, time intensive, and expensive.
The government has improperly used their programs, creating more problems for this countries people, hindering them, not helping the people of this nation grow. The section 8 programs and welfare programs are inefficient, unmonitored, and encouraging dependence on our systems instead of helping our citizens get on their feet. Currently we allow individuals to be on such programs for as long as they are struggling. Government should not be supporting the people for such extended periods of time with our tax dollars, but teaching our people how to support themselves. As your congressman I will look into initiating educational programs on how to find a job, pay bills, and other topics which those who are struggling may need assistance with. Through education, the hope is that we can teach those on government based assistance programs how to provide for their family, and most importantly, give them the confidence to do so. I will also ensure that these programs that provide assistance will have enforcement departments that do their job and communicate with local law enforcement to ensure our tax dollars are not fraudulently being used.
Balance consumer protection and business rights.
We need to protect our consumers from the raising of interest rates, just as we need to insure our businesses are able to operate and make a profit. The hope is to balance the rights of the consumer with the needs of the business. Government is not a business - Not an automobile manufacture owner, not a health care insurance company, and not a dictator of people's lives. Bailouts of private companies are not acceptable. In this capitalistic nation there will always be someone to take a risk to provide the goods needed by the people . Many of these companies our government has recently bailed out have failed due to greed and poor spending decisions. We need to get back to the basics of protecting our sovereign nation.
Our countries small businesses currently struggle meeting the regulations and criteria set forth by our government. Government is there to protect the people not to mimic how businesses should operate. We need to keep government, government; and business, business.
Our congress has a low approval rating and it continues to decline because congress and government continues to implement regulation and rulings that coincide with what will benefit them instead of the people they were hired by to represent. Many times the only way a bill is passed is if there is a special hidden agenda inside of it for other parties. This is not how the system was meant to run, either it passes or it doesn't based on what the people want, not how much you can give to the other parties.
